hello world,

I won't be posting any longer on waulking hymn as I've decided to work on a blog that mostly has to do with my floral designs as I'm starting up my own studio-

there will also be occasional posts regarding pretty dresses, sweet treats, textiles and other musings.

Sheila Hicks

Went to the library yesterday to read Sheila Hicks' "Weaving as Metaphor"
More to come of some of her beautiful journals
and a piece I love of embroidered nun's darned linen socks...

just returned from staying in a little cabin off the coast,
we sat by the furnace all night playing dominos

I felt like I was in a dream world, in another time and life, so beautiful

I've been going through a simple floral phase lately. I feel like I do arrangements with so many elements sometimes, all beautiful but every now and then all you need is some yellow ranunculus, red sweet pea and oak.

and I've been loving chicken avocado pizza, perfect for summer weather

Outerlands

Last week some friends showed me a new restaurant, Outerlands, in the outer sunset (45th and Judah) and I can't get enough of it! Owned by a young couple with an adorable baby, all wood interior, beer served in mason jars, fresh country flowers around-so beautiful.

Tonight I went back again and had carrot soup, braised greens and their homemade levin with roasted garlic. I definitely recommend it! It's so unique to have such a cute place all about sustainable and fresh cuisine without a super gentrified attitude.
Just simple and sweet! check them out...

26 March 2009

Just back from a week long road trip (5 states in 6 days) to Texas for South by Southwest with Barn Owl

Sadly I lost the photographs I took of beautiful southern homes and wisteria
that made me think of ladies drinking mint juleps on their porches

but we did go swimming in the river,
to a country party at the Broken Spoke (one of Willy Nelson's favorite spots),
and saw a lot of big big skies.
